Scott Hamilton is an Australian filmmaker and photographer who started out his career as an electrical engineer in broadcast television. Realising the error of his ways, and that production crew had a lot more fun than "techies", he ventured back to university to study film & tv production.
During the course of his studies, Scott was able to secure regular work as a professional camera operator and lighting technician, but he was more drawn to the role of writer/director as a way of unleashing his creative nature.
His passion was to create his own stories.
After graduating, he made a number of award-winning short films, with one in particular, the comedy "PRETENTIOUS" (watch now), attracting the eye of cinematographer/director, and president of the Australian Cinematographers Society, Ron Johanson, acs.
Scott spent the next year working for Ron at the well respected Roly Poly Picture Company making television commercials, developing a reputation for comedic TVC's, and being able to obtain great performances from child actors.
It was during this time that Scott commenced work as a tertiary level film & tv lecturer, being sought after by a number of Queensland film and acting schools; Queensland School of Film & Television (QSFT), SAE Creative Media Institute, New York Film Academy (Australia), NIDA Open, JMC Academy, and QPIX (part of Screen Development Australia).
Always looking for a new challenge, the next logical step in his career was to move out of the short form medium and into feature films.
Although being successful with his short film directorial efforts, having screened at multiple Academy Award qualifying festivals, Scott first turned to feature film writing instead of directing. His screenplays have placed highly at numerous high profile screenwriting competions:
- WINNER: ScreenCraft Horror Screenplay Contest
- TOP 5 FINALIST: Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest
- TOP 10 FINALIST: ScreenCraft Action & Thriller Screenplay Contest
- SEMI-FINALIST: The Tracking Board Launch Pad Competition
